Ingredients:
- 1 kg ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup Belgian blonde ale
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
Instructions:
1. Prepare the meat mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, black pepper, salt, onion powder, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
2. Form the patties:
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into oval patties about 1.5 cm thick.
3. Cook the patties:
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
4. Prepare the onion sauce:
In the same skillet, add butter and the thinly sliced onion. Sauté over medium heat until the onion is golden and caramelized, about 7 minutes. Sprinkle the onion with flour and cook for an additional minute while stirring constantly.
5. Add broth and beer:
Gradually pour in the beef broth and the Belgian-style blonde ale, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
6. Combine the steaks and sauce:
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the onion sauce over them. Cover and simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the steaks to cook through.
7. Serve:
Serve the hamburger steaks hot, topped with the onion sauce. Pair them with mashed potatoes or your favorite vegetable side for a complete meal.
