Description
Artisanal Belgian ‘wild ale’, blond (sour) beer of high fermentation, matured on peat whiskey casks, with secondary fermentation in the bottle, unfiltered. Smoky smoked and peated aroma, dry wood scent and stale attic. Acid (especially citric acid, with slightly lactic acid) of taste with an accent of wet wood. The sour and peated curses a little, but a very interesting beer to taste. The aftertaste is peeky and soft and acidic, with a dry and little fruity end. Limited edition, as part of the ‘Taste Lab’ series, in memory of WWI and more specifically of the great fire of Leuven on 25 August 1914. The beer tastes like war, according to the brewer: sour, smoked and bitter . The label is a design by Stijn Felix. Was launched in 2014 and was to be tasted for the first time at the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) 2014 under the name ‘Leuven 1914’.
