Description
Two years ago, Johan Claes from Rotselaar and his Brother Jacob brewed a first beer. First there was the brown beer and the triple, and last year the double port was held above the baptismal font. Because Johan Claes is part of the Claes family, known from the Java coffee, it was obvious that he would try to reconcile beer with coffee. ‘In the USA there are already beers with coffee, but in our country no one had ventured. I experimented with my brewer Xavier Yernaux from brewery du Bock. In the end, we are now launching our product Brother Jacob Dubble Espresso 7.7 on the market, ‘says Johan Claes.
He adds that the coffee has long been sought. ‘Of course I was lucky that I could fall back on the experience of my brother Wim and cousin Pieter Claes of coffee roasting Java. In the end we opted for coffee beans from the La Pila Estate in Guatamala. It is a single estate farm coffee with the highest qualification in Guatamala. The coffee comes from a height of 1,500 meters where the bushes grow on a rich volcanic soil. How the coffee is processed in the beer remains a secret, of course, but the rich aroma and full fruity body characterized by a touch of cocoa can be found in the Brother Jacob Double Espresso, ‘explains the compiler.
