Description
Pours a very dark amber/chestnut brown color with a thin off-white collar that quickly fades into a thin ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Heavily spiced aroma with subtle malt sweetness and faint dark fruit notes. Peppery with cinnamon and candy sugar followed by caramel malt, subtle earthy hops and vinous fruit. Lighter bodied than expected with soft carbonation and a decent balance of sweet malt, estery dark fruit notes, zesty spice and sweet booze. Slightly syrupy/medicinal with hints of grape, date and raisin followed by candy sugar, pepper and clove. As it warms, some sweet caramel malt and toffee flavor comes out but it’s dominated by the dark fruit and heavy spices.
